Acharavi is a busy and lively resort set on the North coast of Corfu, boasting something for everyone. It is not just a resort, it is the main town for the North of the island and many of the local people visit Acharavi on a regular basis as there is a post office, banks, a dentist and doctors and all the facilities found in a modern town. You will also find shops such as hardware stores and flower shops. Acharavi has plenty of Tavernas and bars, and a good, long, sandy beach. Behind the resort, set in the hills are excellent walking paths. These have recently been cleared and are part of the Corfu trail. The shops in the main town are situated either side of the main road which runs through Acharavi. Little streets run off this road down to the beach, where you will find many of the beach Tavernas and bars.
The settlement lies around the long sandy beach that stretches for 3 km. With its golden sand, shallow crystalline waters and lush greenery, the beach uniquely combines the island's verdurous landscape and the natural beauty of the Ionian. Anyone visiting this beach will enjoy a comfortable sunbathing and a refreshing swim. In close distance there is a pristine and tranquil beach which is much preferred by nudists. It rarely gets crowded and provides a splendid isolation from the din and bustle of modern day life. Over the years, Acharavi beach has become a popular spot for the families since it provides a safe environment for the children. The best part about this beach is that it comes as a breath of fresh air from the unorganized mess and chaos. Being located in close proximity from the main town you have full access to all tourist amenities and local services. A plethora of good quality restaurants are found within a walking distance from the beach.
The region of Acharavi is a mixture of wild nature and moderate development attracting visitors who enjoy a more laid back and nature orientated approach to their holidays but are not too far from any kind of entertainment they may desire.
Access to the beach could not be easier with the road running parallel for most of its length so you can simply park and unload anywhere.
The Beach below the surface is as friendly as you can see above the water, just sand, no rip currents, no shore break, no reefs, except for a few shallow flat rocks at the far end of the beach which are out of your surfing line anyway.
